Highland Lakes High-Demand Job Training Grant Award Ceremony

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) in collaboration with Workforce Network, Inc., and the Marble Falls, Burnet, and Llano Economic Development Corporations (EDCs) a $43,890 High-Demand Job Training grant. The grant will benefit workers and employers in the Rural Capital Area by providing equipment and job training costs for up to 34 students to receive instruction at Central Texas College for careers as electricians, plumbers, and medical assistants.

This customized training is made possible by using the $43,890 HDJT grant from TWC and leverage funds of $43,890 from Marble Falls, Burnet, and Llano EDC’s, which make up the Highland Lakes EDC’s.

TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Aaron Demerson will present a check to leadership from Marble Falls, Burnet, and Llano EDCs at a 2 p.m. ceremony on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the Community Resource Centers of Texas – Burnet County, located at 1016 Broadway, Marble Falls, TX 78654.

TWC has dedicated $1 million of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds to the statewide HDJT program, to target skill gaps and ensure a talent pipeline to address industry needs, through collaborations between Workforce Solutions partners and local economic development entities. Collaborations must engage in allowable WIOA activities, focusing on high-demand occupational job training determined by the Board in the local workforce areas.
