WSRCA Webinar: ACC & the Skills Development Fund COVID-19 Special Training Initiative Grant

WSRCA hosted a discussion with Randy Floyd, with Austin Community College's School of Manufacturing, to review the Skills Development Fund COVID-19 Special Training Initiative grant released by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Explore the application, the specific training options available (currently all virtual), and how to fill out paperwork when you’re ready to apply.

WSRCA Webinar: The Future of Education and Work

WSRCA hosted a discussion on the Future of Education & Work with Dr. Nicole Smith, of the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce.

Dr. Smith leads their efforts on econometric and methodological work. She is part of a team of economists working on a project to map, forecast and monitor human capital development and career pathways.

Review some of the impacts that COVID-19 has had on the workforce and higher education across populations, and steps we can take as we recover to prepare for new jobs, while creating equity.

WSRCA Webinar: Recession Proofing Strategies for Businesses

Ready to expand your operations? WSRCA joined with our partners at the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation, Greater San Marcos Partnership and the Round Rock Chamber, to host a webinar to discuss recession proofing strategies for your business. The panel included Joe Harper, Executive Director Texas State University Small Business Development Center, and Dr. Bill Chittenden, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs & Associate Professor of Finance at Texas State University, and Elva Zdeb, Human Resources Director for Atrium Hospitality. An introduction was provided by Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of the Economic Development and Tourism division in the Office of the Governor.

WSRCA Virtual Town Hall for Rural Capital Area Employers

To help Rural Capital Area Employers get answers for their immediate business services and employment law questions amid coronavirus (COVID19) concerns, we hosted a Virtual Town Hall for local employers. The event featured Texas Workforce Commission Commissioner Representing Employers, Aaron Demerson, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area CEO, Paul Fletcher, TWC Employment Legal Counsel, Tommy Simmons, as well as Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of the Economic Development and Tourism division in the Office of the Governor.
