Description of Positions:

Certified Medication Aide

  • Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with company policy and procedure
  • Observe and report to the facility's charge nurse reactions and side-effects to medication shown by a resident
  • Take and record vital signs prior to the administration of medication which could affect or change the vital signs
  • Reports to charge nurse and documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered
  • Administer regularly prescribed medication which the permit holder has been trained to administer only after personally preparing (setting up) the medication to be administered
  • The medication aide will document the administered medication in the resident's medication administration record
  • Administer oxygen per nasal canula or a non-sealing face mask only in an emergency; immediately after the emergency, the medication aide shall verbally notify the licensed nurse on duty or on call and appropriately document the action and notification
  • Apply specifically ordered ophthalmic, OTIC, nasal, and vaginal medication
  • Be able to accurately follow all principals of good medication administration
  • Assist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc., which includes lifting, transferring
  • Helps charge nurses with the cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room and supply room

Certified Nurse Aide

  • Provide assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident assessments and care plans
  • Assist resident with daily requirements and tasks such as, bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure
  • Measure and record vital signs as assigned by Charge Nurse
  • Detect and report situations that may cause resident accidents or injuries
  • Contributes knowledge of resident’s conditions/needs to resident care plans
  • Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes of conditions to residents to Charge Nurse


  • Ensure that the resident meals are properly prepared and apportioned according to the resident’s diet specifications, facility procedures, and prescribed dietary and sanitary regulations
  • Prepared food items on assigned/scheduled menus
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment and utensils, work area, storage, area, and serving area
  • Follow proper food handling procedures

Dietary Aide

  • Follows the direction of the Certified Dietary Manager and state guidelines to ensure that food is properly prepared and served to residents
  • Assist with food prep and cooking following universal precautions and state/federal regulations
  • Preparing and serving beverages
  • Setting up and passing trays for meal service
  • Stocking snack cart
  • Bussing of tables and trays
  • Cleaning the kitchen, dining hall, and work area
  • Dish-washing
  • Follow proper hand washing guidelines
  • Additional special projects or tasks can be assigned at times by the CDM or the Executive Director

Educational/Training Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Licensing Requirements
  • Must have Texas Food Handler Certificate

Experience Requirements

  • Working in a commercial kitchen experience is preferred
