WSRCA Team
CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ The goal of the Tri-Agency Regional Convener grant project is to appoint a regional convener in each of Texas’ 28 Workforce Development Areas (WDA) to oversee the creation, execution, and supervision of high-quality career and education pathways into targeted industries within the region.
WSRCA has completed two deliverables for the grant: the Landscape Analysis and Asset Map and Gap Analysis Report. The Asset Map and Gap Analysis informed our strategic plan on the pathways we need to develop. To begin, WSRCA will start with the skilled trades and Establish a Skilled Trades Education and Career Pathway System for all age groups, from childhood to adulthood, addressing the unique needs of both urban and rural areas in the region.
The strategic plan will encompass four key focus areas: Data, Communication, Employer Engagement, and Pathway Design. To vividly depict the array of available career paths, a comprehensive data dashboard is currently in development, designed to articulate the narrative effectively for all stakeholders. Simultaneously, a robust communication strategy is in the works to facilitate seamless dissemination and alignment of regional pathway development initiatives. Employer engagement, a critical component, will be fostered through innovative approaches such as Work-Based Learning and strategic sector partnerships.
Next Steps
This month, Regional Conveners from various parts of the state will assemble in Georgetown, accompanied by their respective Leadership teams. “The primary objective of this gathering is to collaboratively formulate an action plan for the aforementioned focus areas. The outcomes of these deliberations will play a pivotal role in shaping our comprehensive Implementation plan, slated to commence in January 2025”, stated Heather Thomas, WSRCA Pathway Development Manager. WSRCA is looking forward to building out career pathway systems to grow our talent pipeline.
