Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area Leads the Way in Texas with New Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program

Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) is thrilled to announce an exciting milestone in workforce development with the launch of the Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program. Officially established on December 27, 2023, through a partnership with Texas State Technical College (TSTC), this initiative aims to meet the expanding workforce demands of Central Texas' advanced manufacturing industry.

Addressing Workforce Needs with a Tailored Approach

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program, which follows an “earn and learn” model, is designed to help employers address specific workforce needs in advanced manufacturing. By offering an innovative, competency-based training structure, the program enables local employers to hire and train talent while customizing training to suit their unique operational requirements.

The apprenticeship program is a win-win for both employers and job seekers. Employers gain access to skilled workers who are trained in maintenance for manufacturing environments, a critical area in the industry. Job seekers benefit from hands-on training, competitive wages from day one, and a clear pathway to a fulfilling career in manufacturing.

A Broader Reach for Employers

WSRCA’s role as the program sponsor allows employers across the Rural Capital Area to tap into this valuable training opportunity. By providing consortium-style training, WSRCA ensures that even smaller employers who may not have the resources to implement their own apprenticeship programs can still access these benefits. This initiative strengthens the region’s workforce by equipping businesses with the skilled professionals they need to succeed.

Strengthening Partnerships for Long-Term Success

In launching this groundbreaking apprenticeship program, WSRCA has partnered with key organizations including TSTC, the Austin Regional Manufacturers Association (ARMA), the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Office of Apprenticeship, and the National Institute of Industry and Career Advancement. These partnerships have been instrumental in bringing this program to life and ensuring its success in meeting the evolving needs of the local manufacturing industry.
