WSRCA to Host Skills Development Fund Grant Award Ceremony for RS3

Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment (RS3) has been awarded a $245,730 Skills Development Fund Grant by the Texas Workforce Commission, and you are invited to join the grant award check signing celebration on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Home Run Dugout at Dell Diamond, located at 3400 E Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, TX 78665. SDF grants aim to increase the skill level and wages of the Texas workforce by providing site-specific, customized training opportunities for full-time new and incumbent staff.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Paul Fletcher, Chief Executive Officer, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area
  • Frank Leonardis, WSRCA Board Chair, Owner/Operator, Ember Industries
  • The Honorable Rene Flores, Mayor Pro-tem, City of Round Rock, WSRCA Board Treasurer, Vice President & Commercial Loan Officer, Amplify Credit Union
  • Aaron Demerson, Commissioner Representing Employers, Texas Workforce Commission
  • Reid Ryan, Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment (RS3)

The SDF grant will enhance RS3’s sports and entertainment operations, including the Round Rock Express (Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers), RS3 Turf, and RS3 Strategic Hospitality, based in Round Rock, TX. A total of 118 workers in various occupations will train in subjects ranging from food safety and heavy equipment operation to Disney-based customer service strategies and sports-oriented project management.

All training courses funded by the SDF grant are being administered by MDX Safety Training & Consulting Inc. and include a mix of in-person, online, and hybrid options.

The Skills Development Fund program assists businesses and trade unions by financing the design and implementation of customized job-training projects. This fund successfully merges business needs and local customized training opportunities into a winning formula to increase the skills levels and wages of the Texas workforce.
