CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ On June 12, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area released toolkits designed to provide guidance and support for employers and educators to collaborate effectively. As part of the Tri-Agency Regional Convener Grant, the development of the Asset Map and Gap Analysis highlighted the critical need for employer engagement in education and career pathways. The goal is to bridge the gap between industry and education by facilitating employer involvement in schools and educator engagement with employers, ultimately providing students with valuable Work-Based Learning experiences.

Often, employers are unaware of the various ways they can contribute to a student's education, while educators may not fully understand the benefits of involving employers in the learning process. Heather Thomas, Regional Convener Lead for Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area, emphasizes, “When employers are involved in the learning process at both secondary and postsecondary levels, the emerging workforce is better prepared for the demands of the job market.”

To support this collaboration, toolkits have been developed and made publicly available on the Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area website. Employers can access their toolkit here, and educators can access their toolkit here. These resources provide guidance and support for employers and educators to work together effectively.

The toolkits offer various ways to get involved, best practices, guidelines, and more. In the coming months, additional resources will be developed, including legal considerations, a technical assistance calendar, and a framework for initiating Work-Based Learning programs.
