Rural Capital Area Unemployment Rate Increased to 3.6% in October

CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ In October 2024, the unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas increased to 3.6 percent, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) today. This means that 3.6 percent of the workforce in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) were actively seeking employment, totaling 24,676 residents.
Since October 2023, the local labor force has grown by 19,608 residents, with 16,731 of them successfully finding employment within the area. In October, the unemployment rates in the WSRCA counties were as follows:
- Blanco County: 3.0 percent (up from 2.7 percent in September)
- Burnet County: 3.2 percent (up from 3.1 percent in September)
- Hays County: 3.5 percent (up from 3.4 percent in September)
- Lee County: 3.5 percent (up from 3.2 percent in September)
- Williamson County: 3.7 percent (up from 3.6 percent in September)
- Bastrop County: 3.6 percent (up from 3.5 percent in September)
- Fayette County: 3.5 percent (up from 3.2 percent in September)
- Caldwell County: 3.8 percent (up from 3.6 percent in September)
- Llano County: 3.6 percent (up from 3.4 percent in September)
In comparison to the statewide unemployment rate, which stayed steady at 4.1 percent in October, the region's unemployment figures were lower. Similarly, the national unemployment rate stayed steady at 3.9 percent.**
