In Celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Weekly Seminars for Employers to be Held at Round Rock Career Center
Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VR) and Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) are celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) this October by holding free weekly seminars for employers at the Workforce Solutions of Williamson County career center in Round Rock.
The NDEAM seminars will be held on Mondays throughout October from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., to help employers explore opportunities to hire, retain and promote people with disabilities.
“One out of every five Americans will face a physical or mental disability at least once in their lives,” said Robert Alexander, Vocational Rehabilitation Manager. “This means as an employer, approximately 20 percent of your staff either have or will have a disability effecting their work life. These seminars will address key issues facing employers today and provide real world solutions to these types of workplace challenges.”
- NDEAM Seminar 1 on Monday, October 7, will discuss Working Through Behavioral Health Challenges in the workplace and what VR Services can do to assist employers. The seminar will be led by Davin Davis, VR Services Program Specialists for Behavioral Health, Residential Treatment Facilities, Substance Use and Veteran Affairs. Click to Register
- NDEAM Seminar 2 on Monday, October 14, will spotlight ADA for Small Business, and discuss what the Americans With Disabilities Act requires employers to do to accommodate disabled employees. The seminar will be led by VR Services’ Jonathan Mize, Business Relations Coordinator, and Crystal Stark, Unit Program Coordinator. Click to Register
- NDEAM Seminar 3 on Monday, October 21, will review Accessibility in the Workplace, and what employers must do, to ensure the comfort and productivity of their disabled employees. - NDEAM Seminar 4 on Monday, October 28, will close out the series by reviewing Physical Disabilities in the Workplace. The seminar will be led by Robyn Farris, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Click to Register
