Rural Capital Area Unemployment Rate Decreased to 3.6% in March

CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ In March 2024, the unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas decreased to 3.6 percent, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) today. This means that 3.6 percent of the workforce in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) were actively seeking employment, totaling 23,984 residents. Additionally, there were more than 20,837 job openings available online across various industries*.
Since March 2023, the local labor force has grown by 13,505 residents, with 11,886 of them successfully finding employment within the area. In March, the unemployment rates in the WSRCA counties were as follows:
- Blanco: 3.0 percent (down from 3.2 percent in February)
- Burnet: 3.1 percent (down from 3.5 percent in February)
- Hays: 3.4 percent (down from 3.7 percent in February)
- Lee County: 3.4 percent (down from 3.6 percent in February)
- Williamson County: 3.6 percent (down from 3.9 percent in February)
- Bastrop County: 3.7 percent (remains unchanged at 3.7 percent since February)
- Fayette County: 3.4 percent (down from 3.7 percent since February)
- Caldwell: 3.9 percent (remains unchanged at 3.9 percent since February)
- Llano County: 3.8 percent (down from 4.2 percent in February)
In comparison to the statewide unemployment rate, which decreased to 4.1 percent**, the region's unemployment figures in March remained lower. The statewide rate decreased with the national rate, which fell to 3.9 percent**.
