Rural Capital Area Unemployment Rate Rises to 3.5% in June

CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ In June 2025, the unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas increased to 3.5 percent, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). This means that 3.5 percent of the workforce in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) were actively seeking employment, totaling 25,171 residents.
Since June 2024, the local labor force has grown by 8,348 residents, with 10,750 of them successfully finding employment within the area. In June, the unemployment rates in the WSRCA counties were as follows:
- Blanco County: 3.3 percent (down from 3.4 percent in May)
- Burnet County: 3.4 percent (down from 3.5 percent in May)
- Hays County: 3.3 percent (down from 3.4 percent in May)
- Lee County: 3.4 percent (up from 3.3 percent in May)
- Williamson County: 3.4 percent (holding steady from May)
- Bastrop County: 3.8 percent (up from 3.6 percent in May)
- Fayette County: 3.7 percent (down from 3.8 percent in May)
- Caldwell County: 3.6 percent (up from 3.5 percent in May)
- Llano County: 3.7 percent (down from 3.8 percent in May)
In June, the statewide unemployment rate rose to 4.1 percent, while the region continued to report lower unemployment figures. Nationally, the rate also increased, reaching 4.4 percent. **
