CEDAR PARK, Texas — Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) has unveiled its comprehensive Sector Workforce Data Study, a pivotal step in advancing career pathway development across the nine-county Rural Capital Area. The study, conducted in partnership with TIP Strategies, provides a detailed analysis of employer demand, talent supply, and education-to-employment alignment in four high-growth sectors: Semiconductor & Advanced Manufacturing, STEM, Healthcare, and Skilled Trades
Funded through the Texas Tri-Agency Grant for Regional Conveners, this initiative supports WSRCA’s role as a regional convener—connecting education, workforce, and industry to ensure residents have access to high-wage, in-demand jobs.
Key Findings & Insights
- Targeted Sector Growth: While all four sectors show opportunity, demand varies geographically. Healthcare and Skilled Trades roles are more evenly distributed, while STEM and Semiconductor jobs are concentrated near Austin.
- Cross-Sector Talent Overlap: Shared demand for roles like Industrial Engineers and Software Developers presents opportunities for multi-sector training strategies.
- Education & Skills Alignment: Many in-demand roles require postsecondary education beyond high school, with high demand for soft skills like communication, leadership, and problem-solving.
- Work-Based Learning Opportunities: Expanding Pathways in Technology (P-TECH) models and apprenticeships will better connect students to industry needs through high quality pathways.
- Data Infrastructure Needs: Stronger regional data-sharing among schools, postseco
Moving Forward, WSRCA will leverage the study’s findings to expand industry-aligned programs, strengthen partnerships, and launch a publicly accessible workforce dashboard to track progress and opportunities.
“Our mission is to ensure that every student and job seeker in the Rural Capital Area can see a clear, supported pathway to a career that sustains them and their families,” said Paul Fletcher, CEO of WSRCA. “This data study gives us the roadmap to get there.”
