YMCA of Central Texas Awarded The Early Learning Center Texas Rising Star Resource Grant 2024

On September 25, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area’s (WSRCA) Child Care Services (CCS) and the YMCA of Central Texas eagerly awaited the arrival of a major delivery—new early learning resources and materials. WSRCA’s Early Learning Center Resource Grant awarded 206 local early learning programs working toward, maintaining or expanding their Texas Rising Star Certification, resources and materials to enhance learning and play.

Jennifer Rubin, Sr. Program Director for the YMCA of Central Texas, expressed her enthusiasm for the incoming resources that will soon be distributed to early care providers. "This will definitely ease the financial burden of providing for the kids," Rubin said.

Rubin also expressed, "Counselors and site directors can implement these materials immediately, whether it's for physical games or adding new elements to the curriculum. It’ll bring something fresh and exciting for the kids ."

The Early Learning Center Texas Rising Star Resource Grant is being distributed to 74 YMCA early care programs partnered with Child Care Services within WSRCA. Each location will be able to bring in new learning tools and experiences for the children they serve.

Vanessa Roberts, Program Coordinator for the YMCA of Central Texas, echoed Rubin's excitement, noting how much the new resources will benefit early care partners.

"A lot of our kids really look forward to new items, and the site directors love introducing them. It enhances their experience at the YMCA in such a meaningful way," said Roberts.

Carla Amacher, District Executive Director for the YMCA of Central Texas, expressed her excitement about the grant.

“This grant will allow us to provide more diverse experiences. So, we will be able to do some in-stream science and will be able to do more hands-on experimental activities and provide some variety for what kids are doing with spending their time,” said Amacher.

WSRCA is excited to be able to award this grant to so many local programs to expand and enhance the educational experiences that positively impact the development of the children they serve.
