CPR Awareness Month: Essential Life-Saving Skills for Every Parent and Caregiver

As a parent or caregiver, you're the go-to person when someone scrapes a knee, bumps their head, or bursts into tears over a mystery pain. But what happens when the emergency is more serious — when a child is choking, someone collapses, or a loved one suddenly stops breathing? June is CPR Awareness Month, a timely reminder that life-threatening emergencies can strike without warning. And in those moments, the ability to act quickly isn’t just helpful — it can be life-saving.

The good news is you don’t need to be a doctor or paramedic to make a difference. With just a few hours of training, you can gain the confidence and skills to respond effectively in a crisis. CPR and basic First Aid courses teach you how to recognize when someone needs help, perform CPR on infants, children, and adults, respond to choking and allergic reactions, and manage burns, injuries, or sudden illness. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to stay calm and take control until professional help arrives. These classes are designed for real-world situations — practical, hands-on, and approachable for everyone, no matter your background.

To support families and child care professionals in our community, Buda Hive, in partnership with the Buda Economic Development Corporation, is offering a local First Aid and CPR training course tailored for child care providers and small business staff. It’s a smart, simple way to build safety and preparedness into your workplace or home environment.

The training will be held at Buda City Hall (405 E Loop St, Buda, TX) and is available on two dates: May 31 or June 2, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Whether you're a parent, teacher, or small business owner, this is your chance to learn skills that could one day save a life.
