TWC Commissioner Brent Connett Visits WSRCA

Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) was honored to welcome Commissioner Representing the Public, Brent Connett, of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), to the Workforce Solutions of Williamson County Career Center this week.

Commissioner Connett’s visit underscored the strong partnership between TWC and WSRCA in advancing workforce development and strengthening opportunities for Texans across the nine-county Rural Capital region.

During his visit, Commissioner Connett and his Special Projects Coordinator, Kelsey Thomas, met with WSRCA Board Chair Frank Leonardis, CEO Paul Fletcher, Chief Business Development Officer Sarah Ruddy, Chief Solutions Officer Kelly Moreno, and Workforce Managing Director Yvonne Lopez, to discuss local workforce priorities, employer partnerships, and innovative career pathways that prepare residents for high-demand occupations.

Appointed by Gov.Greg Abbott in 2025, Commissioner Connett brings deep public service experience to his role at TWC. Prior to his appointment, he served as Deputy Director of Appointments in the Office of the Governor, following more than a decade in senior staff roles within the Texas Senate, as well as leadership positions for a legislative caucus and public policy research foundation.

In addition to his state service, Commissioner Connett is actively involved in his community, volunteering in multiple ministries at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Austin and with Meals on Wheels. He also serves as Chairman of the State Employee Charitable Campaign Policy Committee. Connett earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government from The University of Texas at Austin.

WSRCA CEO Paul Fletcher expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s visit and his commitment to strengthening workforce partnerships across the state:

“Commissioner Connett’s leadership and insight reflect a deep understanding of how workforce systems impact lives,” Fletcher said. “We’re grateful for his continued engagement and for the Texas Workforce Commission’s partnership in ensuring every Central Texan has access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed.”

Commissioner Connett’s visit reinforces WSRCA’s mission to empower people, businesses, and communities through workforce solutions that drive regional prosperity.
