WSRCA Celebrates Rural Capital Area Manufacturers, Help Connects Students to Careers on Manufacturing Day

On Friday, October 4, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) helped celebrate our 3rd Annual Manufacturing Day across our nine-county region, by raising more awareness of the wonderful investments that our local manufacturers make within our communities, and to our workforce.

Throughout the Rural Capital Area, manufacturers opened their doors to students and educators on Manufacturing Day, to help them explore the incredible career opportunities available in the Manufacturing Industry.

Our teams partnered with local employers, industry leaders, school districts, chambers and economic development corporations, to inspire the next generation of innovative creators.

In Williamson County, multiple Georgetown manufacturers welcomed Georgetown Independent School District students, parents, teachers and community leaders, to help show them advancements in modern manufacturing careers.

Participating companies included:

In all, 116 students from Georgetown High School and Eastview High School toured their selected manufacturer, to learn about each company and their employment opportunities.

The event was made possible by the Georgetown Manufacturers Alliance, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, the Georgetown Economic Development Corporation, the City of Georgetown and Georgetown ISD.

Cynthia Pike, Director of College, Career, and Military Readiness for Georgetown ISD said after the event, "Thank you to everyone who made this day possible. Students and their teachers were beaming and in awe at times, and businesses were not only accommodating, but hospitable and patient."

WSRCA Team members, Stephanie Mora, John Garcia, Eugene Ratliff and Craig Henry, assisted at four locations during Manufacturing Day in Georgetown.

In Hays County, our partners at the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) and the Greater San Marcos Manufacturers Association, worked with Hays Consolidated ISD and San Marcos Consolidated ISD to create Manufacturing Day immersion experiences for students in the region by helping them visit with local manufacturers.

Participating companies included:

GSMP also worked with Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra, Caldwell County Judge Hoppy Haden, and the Commissioners Courts, to have proclamations made to recognize October as Manufacturing Month in each county.

WSRCA would like to thank all of the participating employers, students, parents, ISD's and community partners, who helped make Manufacturing Day events throughout the Rural Capital Area a major success.

The goal of Manufacturing Day is to inspire the next generation of manufacturing professionals, and to educate the public on the important role modern manufacturers play in our daily lives.

We proudly stand with our Central Texas manufacturers and their workforce on Manufacturing Day, as they continue to set the global standard for quality and innovation, and create wonderful career opportunities for our communities to help them thrive.
