Rural Capital Area Unemployment Rate Decreased to 3.7% in July

CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ In July 2024, the unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas increased to 3.7 percent, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) today. This means that 3.7 percent of the workforce in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) were actively seeking employment, totaling 25,166 residents. Additionally, there were more than 39,500 job openings available online across various industries*.
Since July 2023, the local labor force has grown by 13,303 residents, with 12,133 of them successfully finding employment within the area. In July, the unemployment rates in the WSRCA counties were as follows:
· Blanco: 2.9 percent (down from 3.1 percent in June)
· Burnet: 3.2 percent (down from 3.4 percent in June)
· Hays: 3.6 percent (down from 3.8 percent in June)
· Lee County: 3.5 percent (down from 3.6 percent in June)
· Williamson County: 3.7 percent (down from 3.9 percent in June)
· Bastrop County: 3.9 percent (down from 4.1 percent in June)
· Fayette County: 3.6 percent (down from 3.7 percent in June)
· Caldwell: 4.2 percent (down from 4.3 percent in June)
· Llano County: 3.6 percent (down from 3.8 percent in June)
In comparison to the statewide unemployment rate, which fell to 4.4 percent**, the region's unemployment figures in July remained lower. While the statewide rate decreased, the national unemployment rate increased to 4.5%.**.
