CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA), the nonprofit community partnership delivering innovative and sustainable workforce development solutions across the nine-county Rural Capital Area of Central Texas, is proud to announce its recognition as a U.S. Department of Labor-approved sponsor for the Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program, officially approved on December 27, 2024. In partnership with Texas State Technical College (TSTC), this competency-based apprenticeship program addresses the growing needs of the advanced manufacturing industry in the region.
The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program follows an "earn and learn" model, allowing employers to hire and train local talent to meet their specific workforce needs. Through customized training, employers can develop skilled professionals for advanced manufacturing roles, contributing to their success. For job seekers, the program offers a pathway to a rewarding career in manufacturing, providing hands-on experience and competitive wages from day one. The apprenticeship focuses on manufacturing maintenance, helping employers build a strong workforce while offering participants valuable industry skills.
WSRCA is committed to addressing local workforce needs by partnering with employers to strengthen our employer-driven system. As the program sponsor, WSRCA enables more employers, including smaller ones, to access apprenticeship opportunities through consortium-style training, making apprenticeships accessible to a broader range of employers.
WSRCA would like to thank our key partners, including TSTC, the Austin Regional Manufacturers Association (ARMA), the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Office of Apprenticeship, and the National Institute of Industry and Career Advancement, for their invaluable support in launching the program.
