Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area was proud to host NetWORK!, a dynamic career readiness event focused on preparing students for life after high school. Through mock interviews, employer engagement, and practical career guidance, students gained firsthand experience navigating professional environments and exploring future pathways. Building Confidence Through Mock Interviews

A central component of NetWORK! was the opportunity for students to participate in mock interviews with experienced professionals. For many, this was their first formal interview experience. Practicing in a supportive setting helped students learn how to introduce themselves professionally, communicate their strengths, and respond effectively to common interview questions.

Equally important was the real-time, constructive feedback students received. Volunteers offered insights on professionalism, body language, clarity of responses, and preparation strategies. These conversations help demystify the hiring process and give students actionable steps to improve. Experiences like this strengthen confidence and equip students with skills they will carry into future job, internship, and college interviews.

Employer Engagement and Industry Exposure

In addition to mock interviews, the event featured table vendors representing employers. Students had the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals, ask questions about career options, and learn what employers look for in candidates. These interactions provided valuable exposure to real workforce expectations and potential career pathways.

We also extend our appreciation to Isaiah Knox, PHR, for speaking with students about career readiness after high school. His practical guidance on resume development, building a strong LinkedIn presence, and understanding different career and training pathways offered students clear direction as they plan their next steps. Conversations like these help bridge the gap between education and employment.
