Rural Capital Area Unemployment Rate Holds Firm at 3.5% in June

CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ The unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas remained unchanged at 3.5 percent in June 2023, with 5,408 jobs added since May, according to figures released today by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The 3.5 percent unemployment rate in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) represented 23,226 residents seeking employment, with more than 25,418 online job postings across all industries.* In June, the region’s unemployment numbers remained below the Texas rate, which increased to 4.2 percent**, and the national rate, which rose to 3.8 percent.**
Within the WSRCA counties, Blanco recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 2.9 percent (unchanged from May 2023), followed by Burnet County at 3.2 percent (down from 3.3 percent). Hays and Williamson counties came in at 3.5 percent unemployment (Hays was up from 3.4 percent and WilCo was unchanged), while Lee and Llano counties came in at 3.6 percent (Lee was unchanged from May, and Llano dropped from 3.8 percent). Bastrop and Fayette counties were at 3.7 percent (Bastrop rose from 3.5 percent in May, and Fayette remained unchanged). Caldwell County’s unemployment rate in June rose to 3.8 percent (up from 3.6 percent in May).
