CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ The unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas continued its trend downward in August 2022, dropping to 3.1 percent, down from 3.2 percent in July, according to figures released today by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The 3.1 percent unemployment rate in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) represented 19,015 residents seeking employment, with more than 31,751 open jobs across all industries.* The region’s unemployment in August remained below the Texas (4.2 percent)** and national (3.8 percent)** rates.

Within the WSRCA counties, Blanco recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 2.7 percent (down from 2.8 percent in July), followed by Burnet County at 2.9 percent (unchanged from July). Williamson County was at 3.0 percent (down from 3.1 percent), while Hays County was at 3.1 percent (down from 3.2 percent), and Lee County was at 3.4 percent (down from 3.7 percent). Bastrop County was at 3.5 percent (down from 3.7 percent), as Caldwell and Fayette counties recorded a drop to 3.6 percent (down from 3.9 percent and 3.7 percent, respectively). Llano County was at 3.8 percent unemployment in August (down from 3.9 in July).
