Rural Capital Area Unemployment Slides to 3.2% in July; Number of Residents Employed Grows by Over 24K Since 2021

CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ The unadjusted unemployment rate of the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas slid to 3.2 percent in July 2022, down from 3.3 percent in June, according to figures released today by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The 3.2 percent unemployment rate in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) represented 19,728 residents seeking employment, with more than 35,522 open jobs across all industries.* The number of area residents available for work grew by 18,867 since July 2021, while the number employed grew by 24,132. The region’s unemployment in July remained below the Texas (4.3 percent)** and national (3.8 percent)** rates.
Within the WSRCA counties, Blanco recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 2.8 percent (down from 2.9 percent in June), followed by Burnet County at 2.9 percent (down from 3.1 percent). Williamson County was at 3.1 percent (unchanged from June), while Hays Counties was at 3.2 percent (down from 3.3 percent), and Fayette County was at 3.6 percent (down from 3.7 percent). Bastrop and Lee counties were at 3.7 percent unemployment in July (both unchanged from June), while Caldwell and Llano counties were at 3.9 percent (unchanged from June).
