TWC Employer Commissioner Demerson Helps Present $43,890 High-Demand Job Training Grant Award to Highland Lakes EDC's
WSRCA and its partners are proud to deliver Workforce Solutions for Texans!
We'd like to thank TWC Commissioner Representing Employers, Aaron Demerson, and all of our community partners, for helping us celebrate the $43,890 High Demand Job Training Grant that was awarded to the Highland Lakes EDC's, at a Nov. 3 ceremony held at the Community Resource Centers of Texas's expansive new offices in Marble Falls.
In the next few years, over 3,000 Plumbers and Electricians will be needed by employers within our counties, & more than 1,100 Medical Assistants. This grant helps our community partnerships continue delivering customized training solutions to address that need.
The grant will benefit workers and employers in the Rural Capital Area by providing equipment and job training costs for 10 adults to receive a Medical Assistant certification at Central Texas College and 24 adults to receive electrician and plumbing career training through Winn’s Career Education, for a total of 34 students.
This customized training is made possible by using the $43,890 HDJT grant from TWC and leveraged funds of $51,890 from Marble Falls, Burnet, and Llano EDC’s, which make up the Highland Lakes EDC’s. Total investment will be $95,780 to benefit workers and employers in these occupations in demand throughout the area.
Additional financial support has been provided by the Hill Country Builders Association for facility rental and Moore Enterprises for plumbing supplies.
We’d also like to thank Workforce Network, Inc and Community Resource Centers of Texas for helping us make this celebration so special.
Speakers at the Nov. 3 ceremony included WSRCA CEO Paul Fletcher, TWC Commissioner Aaron Demerson, Marble Falls EDC Executive Director Christian Fletcher, Burnet City Manager and EDC Board Member David Vaughn, City of Llano Mayor Gail Lang, and Fay Crider with Workforce Network, Inc.
TWC has dedicated $1 million of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds to the statewide HDJT program, to target skill gaps and ensure a talent pipeline to address industry needs, through collaborations between Workforce Solutions partners and local economic development entities. Collaborations must engage in allowable WIOA activities, focusing on high-demand occupational job training determined by the Board in the local workforce areas.
